Vesting Requirement

Five years of service required to become "vested" (eligible for a retirement benefit at a future date)

BackDROP

To Be eligible for the BackDROP, you must continue working in a MOSERS covered position at least two years beyond your normal retirement eligibility date.

Eligibility for Early Retirement

Age 55 with 10 years of service (MSEP)
Age 57 with 5 years of service (MSEP 2000)

Eligibility for Normal Retirement

• "Rule of 80"- age 48 if service and age equals 80 or more (MSEP and MSEP 2000)
• Age 60 with 15 years of service (MSEP)
• Age 62 with 5 years of service (MSEP 2000)
• Age 65 with 5 years of service (MSEP)

Normal Retirement Benefit Formula

Average Monthly Pay for Highest 36 Consecutive Months

X 1.6% (MSEP) or 1.7% (MSEP 2000)

X Years/Months of Service

Temporary Benefit Formula (MSEP 2000)
(payable if you retire under “Rule of 80“ and stops when you attain the age of 62)
