Vesting Requirement
Five years of service required to become "vested" (eligible
for a retirement benefit at a future date)
BackDROP
To Be eligible for the
BackDROP,
you must continue working in a MOSERS covered position at least two years
beyond your normal retirement eligibility date.
Eligibility for Early Retirement
Age 55 with 10 years of service (MSEP)
Age 57 with 5 years of service (MSEP 2000)
Eligibility for Normal Retirement
- "Rule of 80"- age 48 if service and age equals 80 or more
(MSEP and MSEP 2000)
- Age 60 with 15 years of service (MSEP)
- Age 62 with 5 years of service (MSEP 2000)
- Age 65 with 5 years of service (MSEP)
Normal Retirement Benefit Formula
Average Monthly Pay for Highest 36 Consecutive Months
X 1.6% (MSEP) or 1.7% (MSEP 2000)
X Years/Months of Service
= Monthly Base Benefit
Temporary Benefit Formula (MSEP 2000)
(payable if you retire under Rule of 80 and stops when you
attain the age of 62)
Average Monthly Pay for Highest 36 Consecutive Months
X .8%
X Years/Months of Service
= Temporary Benefit
Survivor Benefits Before Retirement
Paid to eligible spouse or children of vested member
Survivor Benefits After Retirement
Paid according to benefit payment option elected on your Retirement Election
