Assistance for Flooding Victims

Severe flooding in northwest Missouri has affected many communities already, and Governor Parson has declared a state of emergency to help people get the assistance they need.

Even when natural disasters are a threat, we want to ensure that our retirees still get their monthly benefit payment on time. With direct deposit, regardless of where you are, or what is going on in your community, your benefit payment will be securely deposited into your bank account and available for your use. It is the fastest, most secure way to receive your MOSERS benefit payment. If you still receive a paper check, we encourage you to switch to direct deposit. Find the Direct Deposit Authorization form on our public website and mail it in, or log in to MOSERS' website and submit it online.

We also have information and resources for our members from Standard Insurance Company (The Standard), the carrier of our group life insurance policy and long-term disability insurance benefits.

We want you to know that The Standard cares about helping you recover from these challenging events. That's why we're here - to give you the peace of mind that you're covered.

To give our customers the time they need to recover, The Standard is modifying some of our operating procedures. As a result, the following changes are effective immediately (March 25, 2019):

  • No lapse notices will be issued to affected customers for premium payments that are past due: We will not issue any lapse notices for at least the next 60 days. We'll also work with you to extend the typical grace period for payment when appropriate.
  • The Standard will help affected customers by extending dates for back-up documentation and create special payment arrangements as necessary to make sure claimants receive their benefits. We recognize it's critical for claimants to receive claim payments on time during a natural disaster and that they and their families may need additional help during this event. As a result, we will use alternate payment methods to fit the needs of customers. We will reissue checks, change addresses, interrupt EFT payments to cut hard copy checks, extend Proof of Loss deadlines, or whatever else we can do to provide claimants access to their disability funds. This additional support will continue until disaster-related interruptions to postal and other services are resolved.

We know our customers - and our communities - need additional emotional support during this time, so we've launched a Bilingual Crisis Support Line to help them. It's available to anyone who needs professional emotional support and/or a referral to community resources.
