Opening Session

Session: SB 62 MOSERS New Legislation and the MSEP 2011

New legislation will change the vesting status of members in the MSEP 2011 from 10 years to 5 years. Learn how this benefit change will affect future benefits for new hires after January 1, 2018. We will briefly provide an overview of the terminated-vested Buyout Program and general information on the MSEP 2011. (This session is pending action by the governor.)

JoAnn Looten, Assistant Facilities and Records Officer - Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS)

JoAnn has a B.A. in history and political science from Columbia College and has been actively involved in state benefits for the past 32 years. She is a Certified Records Manager and Certified Government Benefits Administrator.

Ronda Stegmann, Legislative & Policy Coordinator - Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS)

Ronda joined MOSERS in 2015. Prior to that move, she was a legislative staffer within the Capitol since 1994, including her most recent role as the Executive Director of the Joint Committee on Public Employee Retirement which is a legislative committee focusing on public pensions. In 2017, Ronda completed her 26th legislative session and looks forward to many more.

Session: Be In The Know - MO Deferred Comp Essentials

Everyone knows that saving extra money for retirement is important, but you may not understand all of the surprising benefits offered through the deferred compensation plan. This session will highlight some of those features and explain why the deferred compensation plan is more than just a simple retirement savings account.

Tasha Reinkemeyer, Local Plan Manager, MO Deferred Comp

Tasha has served the state of Missouri employees for 16 years through MO Deferred Comp (formerly State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan), is FINRA securities licensed, and has five years of banking experience. Her past work experience, academics, and continuing education have been based around financial education and promoting all retirement resources.

Session: MOSERS - Be Cool and Retire Online!

Come to this informative session to learn first-hand how our online retirement application process can easily guide your employees through the retirement process. While it may be easy to direct employees to the link, it might be frustrating discussing the process without experiencing it yourself. Here is your opportunity to observe the online retirement application process and how it works in person. Attend this session and I’ll show you just how easy filing retirement paperwork online can be.

Ebonee Nelson, Educator - Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS)

Ebonee Nelson is an Educator for the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System. In this role, she travels throughout the state and conducts PreRetirement Seminars for state employees. Ebonee has served in state government for four years in multiple agencies. Immediately prior to joining MOSERS, Ebonee served as the coordinator of the Governor's 100 Missouri Miles Challenge and the Community Engagement Coordinator at Missouri State Parks, a division of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. She graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in political science from Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Session: MCHCP Wellness Program - Blood Pressure and Diet

Whether you have high blood pressure or not, it is important to understand how you can keep your arteries healthy with diet. A Wellness Program Nurse will walk you through the basics of blood pressure. Then a Wellness Program Dietitian will explain how food affects blood pressure and which foods to choose for a healthy heart.

Ashley Jenkins, RN, Wellness Program Nurse, Sr. - Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Ashley Jenkins' responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating disease and care management programs aimed to improve the health of state employees and their families. She received her associate degree from Lincoln University and a BSN from Central Methodist University. Ashley began her career at St. Mary's Hospital and Capital Region Medical Center as a pediatric and obstetric nurse and filled in occasionally for medical, surgical and radiology patient care. After 10 years of service, Ashley accepted a position at the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, where she trained licensed practical nurses and registered nurses to provide intensive home visits to at-risk, low-income pregnant women and their families. She currently resides in Jefferson City with her husband and their three children.

Sarah Young, Wellness Program Dietitian, Sr. - Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Sarah serves as a Wellness Program Dietitian, Sr., at Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan. She received a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management awarded by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration. She earned a master's degree in family consumer sciences in dietetics with an emphasis in nutrition education from Eastern Illinois University and a bachelor's degree in human environmental studies in dietetics from Southeast Missouri State University. She has served with the state of Missouri for the past four years, enjoys the area of disease prevention, and desires to help others meet their nutrition and physical activity goals.

Session: Long-Term Disability & Workplace Possibilities

If you're interested in learning how Workplace Possibilities Program can help accommodate your employees who have health related issues at work or who are out on Long-Term Disability (LTD) but wanting to return to work, come to this session and learn more about this program! This presentation will also provide you with important information regarding LTD such as: when an employee should file for LTD, how to apply for LTD, and how being on LTD impacts other benefits. This session will be presented by knowledgeable employees of The Standard who will be ready to answer any question you might have. You don't want to miss it!

Thania Fitzgerald, MOSERS On-Site Account Specialist - The Standard

Thania Fitzgerald has a master's degree in psychology. She was initially hired as an Educator/Benefit Counselor by MOSERS in July, 2013. Six months ago, she joined The Standard Insurance Company as the on-site MOSERS account specialist. In this new role, she works as a liaison between MOSERS and The Standard overseeing the Life Insurance, LTD, Waiver of Premiums, and Travel Assistance benefits.

Marty Klinkhammer, National Account Consultant - The Standard

With The Standard since 1984, Marty is a National Accounts Consultant, providing account management oversight and support for The Standard's largest and most complex customers. Marty began with The Standard as a Long-Term Disability Benefits Analyst and has held numerous positions in Underwriting and Operations. In 1997, he became one of The Standard's initial National Accounts Consultants. His leadership experience includes Underwriting Supervisor, Manager of Group Policy Administration, Regional Vice President, National Accounts (where he was responsible for managing risk, service and administration for a block of large case business) and 2nd Vice President, National Accounts (where he was responsible for the National Accounts Consultant team). Marty earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and management from the University of Portland.

Brenda Smith, Disability and Productivity Consultant - The Standard

Brenda has been with Standard Insurance Company over 10 years and in this role since 2014. She educates brokers and employers about the Workplace Possibilities Program and also implements the program with new groups and departments. Her career has been focused in Human Resources and Disability Insurance.

Sherri BorgmeyerAccount Manager - The Standard (Kansas City Employee Benefits Sales and Service Office)

Sherri is an Account Manager in The Standard's Kansas City sales office, a position she has held since 2009. She is responsible for servicing large groups in Missouri and Kansas. Sherri joined The Standard in 2000 as an Underwriter. She came to The Standard from Fortis Benefits, where she held various roles during her 15 years of service, 13 of which she worked in the local group sales office as an Account Manager. She is a member of the Greater KC Employee Benefit Professional Association and National Association of Health Underwriters. She is also involved in The Standard's Women's Career Network, BrioLab, and MoneySmart employee resource groups. Sherri joined the MOSERS team in June of 2015.

Jan Jackson, Vice President & General Counsel - ASIFlex

Jan serves as vice president and general counsel for ASIFlex. Jan holds a juris doctor (JD) degree from the University of Missouri, and a B.A. in business administration from Stephens College. She has 20 years of experience in employee benefits, ranging from legal and compliance responsibilities for a self-insured health plan to providing administrative services to employers with respect to their flexible benefits, health plans, and COBRA coverage. Jan also worked for Central Bank for two years and held various positions at the state of Missouri for more than 20 years.

Find out when, and when not, to complete a leave of absence form for MCHCP. You will also learn about eligibility information, who can have coverage, and how to prove insurability.

Bethany Goodin, Member Services Manager - Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Bethany Goodin worked in the MCHCP marketing and customer service departments from 1993 - 1999 as a Marketing and Communication Specialist. Bethany returned to MCHCP in 2011 as a Communication Specialist. After one year in this position, Bethany was promoted to the Supervisor of Member Education and was recently appointed as the Manager of Member Services. Dedication and commitment to MCHCP members is Bethany's continuous focus throughout her employment and experience in the health insurance industry.

Julie Harber, Member Records Supervisor - Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Julie has been employed with the state of Missouri for 25 years. She has worked for MCHCP since 1994 and, over the years, has worked as a Member Records Technician, Quality Control Specialist, and Team Leader. Julie is currently the Supervisor of the Member Records Department.

Curtis Forck, Central Payroll Manager - State of Missouri Office of Administration/Division of Accounting

Curtis has a bachelor's degree in accounting and has been with the Office of Administration/Division of Accounting for more than nine years. Curtis has served in multiple roles within the Division of Accounting from being a member of the expenditure review unit to a member of the CAFR group. He has been with the division since his graduation from college.

Angela Williams, Institutional Relationship Manager - MOST - Missouri's 529 College Savings Plan

In her role as an Institutional Relationship Manager at Ascensus College Savings (the Program Manager for MOST), Angela raises awareness and educates families on the importance of saving for college and the benefits of using Missouri's 529 College Savings Program. Angela brings a long history with nonprofits and community engagement to the MOST 529 team. Previously, she held several positions with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America including National Director of African-American engagement. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in education and political science at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, as well as certification in nonprofit management. She is currently pursuing a master's of science in public administration.

Chris Lindsey, Wellness Operations Manager - Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Chris is the Wellness Operations Manager for the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP) where he is responsible for leading the Strive for Wellness® Team to operationalize initiatives and strategies of the Wellness Department. Chris works closely with Wellness Program dietitians and nurses on effective delivery of branded MCHCP member wellness and health education communications and collaborates to assist in development of new condition management and population health tools. Chris earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Missouri Western State University with a minor in sociology. He established and administered the first Wellness Program for the Jefferson City Police Department, still being utilized today, and has obtained advanced certification from the Cooper Institute as a health promotion director and fitness specialist and as a Wellness Council of America distinguished faculty member.

Callie Simmons, Education Specialist, MO Deferred Comp

Callie is from California, Missouri. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Central Missouri. Callie currently resides in California with her husband, Brice, and her two dogs, Bentley and Jax. Before joining MOSERS, she worked for Wells Fargo Advisors. Callie has worked with retirement plans for about 5 years.

Finish the day with our most popular session as Sherri Schwartze walks you through changes that will go into effect for the 2018 plan year.

Sherri Schwartze, Supervisor of Member Education, Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan (MCHCP)

Sherri is a licensed health producer that has been with MCHCP for 19 years. During that time she had the opportunity to work in multiple departments including member services, marketing and communications. She is currently the supervisor of member education where she works with her staff to plan and deliver the open enrollment presentations, as well as other member contact opportunities throughout the year.
