Does the state have a short-term
disability program?
No. Currently the state provides
only a long-term disability plan. Sick leave, annual leave, overtime,
compensatory time, shared leave, etc., are designed to be used for
short disability periods or to cover the benefit waiting period
in the long-term disability program.
What is the waiting period for
long-term disability?
The benefit waiting period for long-term
disability benefits is 90 days. Consult MOSERS' Long-Term Disability
Handbook for more information about the long-term disability benefit
plan for members of MOSERS. (Regional colleges/universities administer
their own disability plan.)
