JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (November 10, 2015) – Rick Dahl, Chief Investment Officer for the Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System (MOSERS), announced that he will retire in the first half of 2016. Mr. Dahl enjoyed a 21-year career as MOSERS’ CIO. In that time, MOSERS, which administers retirement, long-term disability, life insurance, and deferred compensation benefits for approximately 113,000 present and former state employees and their beneficiaries, saw its investment portfolio grow in size from approximately $2.0 billion to nearly $9.0 billion.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the board, Executive Director Gary Findlay, and, most importantly, the members,” said Dahl in his 2015 report to the MOSERS board of trustees. “The rewards, challenges, and fun that I have had are testaments to the great organization that is MOSERS.”
“Rick was the right person at the right place at the right time,” said MOSERS’ outgoing Executive Director, Gary Findlay. “The legacy of the culture he established among those directly involved in the investment program at MOSERS will benefit all stakeholders for years to come.”
Mr. Dahl will be succeeded by Deputy CIO Seth Kelly. Mr. Kelly is an 11-year veteran of MOSERS, having served in several roles prior to becoming Deputy CIO in January 2015. Shannon Davidson, Risk and Operations Manager, will assume the Deputy CIO position when Mr. Kelly moves into the CIO slot. Mr. Davidson has been with MOSERS for nearly 20 years.
“I want to express my profound confidence in the investment team that will be here to carry on once I leave,” added Dahl. “This is a world-class group of people with the intellect, desire and humility to see that the MOSERS investment program continues to be an industry leader well into the future.”
