PLANSPONSOR magazine recently named MOSERS the 2008 Plan Sponsor of the Year in the Public Sector/Defined Benefit Category. MOSERS was cited for its noteworthy governance standards, its well-designed operational structure, 
and for consistently producing stellar investment results. In a press release issued February 8, Governor Matt Blunt congratulated MOSERS, saying, "State employees can be proud of this rare honor that signifies they are being offered the highest quality retirement benefits."
During the nomination process, officials from other large state funds noted that they and their counterparts often strive to emulate “the MOSERS way.” According to Keith Brainard, Research Director for the National Association of State Retirement Administrators, “Many people in the public-pension community look to [Executive Director] Gary Findlay and MOSERS for ideas and examples on public-pension administration, management, and governance.”
